Convenient Knife Set for Fishing and Camping Gear

I found the buy of the year online today when I was looking for something on a website that would make a great gift for my brother whose birthday is not far off. He loves to fish and lives in TN where there are many lakes and rivers, so I ordered this Fisherman's Set for him. It was less than $10, and being sold at a huge discount. He can keep it in his fishing and camping gear. I know he'll think it's a fine present. He can be pretty disorganized, but not when it comes to his fishing and camping gear. Since those activities are the loves of his life, he keeps them in spotless condition and he knows exactly where everything is.

I found the fisherman's set at Broad Array Mall located at www.broadarraymall.com, a site with a wide variety of products. We're big campers in our family, having been brought up to respect and love being outdoors. The Broad Array Mall has a big selection of camping gear, so I know I'll be going back whenever we need camping gear. I love to shop online. It's so much easier than going to the store. I had to go out yesterday to the local shopping center, and traffic was an absolute nightmare. My computer's DVD drive died, so I had to replace it; otherwise I wouldn't be going near a store this time of year.

I bet my brother will use this fisherman's set for other things, too, besides preparing fish for the frying pan. It would be a handy cooking set for anyone's camping gear, including my own. In fact, I may go back and buy another set for our camping gear. I like the plastic case, the knife sharpener, the cleaver, and the filet knives that this includes. Having a pair of cooking shears is also nice in the camping gear. Normally we don't go camping with scissors, but they could come in pretty handy for other things, too.

Having the right camping gear sure makes spending time in the wilderness easier. A tent that is easy to put up, cooking stoves, and camping cookware are all necessary for a good experience while camping, and I've always got my eyes out looking for cool things for our camping gear to make camping the most pleasant experience I have always found it to be. It's amazing how much camping gear is available on websites like Broad Array Mall, and with prices like the fisherman's set, I can't go wrong buying gear there.

I want a cookstove so I don't have to cook on open fires. Other than that I can rough it and enjoy nature without any more amenities. I will bring my cast iron pots and pans as camping cookware because it will be great to have a nice set to be able to cook meals while we are out there. My kids will love camping and I'll have fun with them too.

So I have been trying to guess what presents that I will be getting for the holidays, because I am always wondering what people will think of when they think of the things that I love to do; that is what I do when I buy presents, anyways. This year, I have a good mind to think that some new outdoor camping gear will be underneath the Xmas tree for me, because my family saw how much of my outdoor camping gear was in need of repair or replacement the last time we all went camping together a few months ago. While it will be amazing to see them all again, especially a few members who are flying in just for this awesome holiday celebration—you won’t here this lover of outdoor sports complaining in the least bit if I open up some gifts to reveal new outdoor camping gear for future trips!

Getting Ready For Deer Hunting Requires Sharp Knives

http://www.outdoorcampingandhunting.com/2009/November/Getting-Ready-For-Deer-Hunting-Requires-Sharp-Knives.htm

My husband says that when most men think about deer hunting they probably automatically think about the type of rifle to use. He use to think about that too. His dad started taking him deer hunting when he was 10 years old. He use to talk about how great it was going to be to have his own gun! However, his dad had something else on his mind. He bought him a knife. A big knife.

My husband told me that while his mind was set on finding the right rifle for deer hunting, his dad was thinking about the kind of knife he would need. One of the things that he didn't realize about deer hunting (after all, he was only ten) is that when you shoot a deer, you need to clean it. This requires a sharp knife. His dad had already seen one of his friends be seriously wounded while deer hunting. It didn't happen by gunshot. It was because his knife was dull. He had to work too hard to clean the deer, that the knife slipped and sliced the femoral artery. His dad almost lost his friend that day, but got him to the hospital in time. He didn't want that to happen to my husband.

The first lesson about deer hunting he had to learn that year was not how to line up my sight, or where to shoot the deer, or even how to dress it out. The first lesson was how to sharpen his knife. Along with his new knife, he also bought him a honing kit and taught him how to put a perfect edge on my knife. Then they went deer hunting.

Now that my son is at the deer hunting age, guess what my husband is going to teach him? That's right. He wants him to learn the same lessons he did about deer hunting. I went on line and found a great knife for him, but couldn't find a honing kit. I went to a website that he usually buys some camping gear from called Broad Array Mall at www.broadarraymall.com. This site is definitely a broad array mall as there is a wide range of products there. After a few minutes of searching, I found a Gerber Sharpening Kit that would be great for my son. I ordered it as a gift for his first hunting trip and waited a few days before it arrived. Once it did and they started to get ready I gave it to him and they both started by sharpening their knives. My husband still has the one his dad gave him, and now my son had the one I just bought from Broad Array Mall.

Better Deer Hunting In The Rut

http://www.outdoorcampingandhunting.com/2009/November/Better-Deer-Hunting-In-The-Rut.htm

Most deer hunting aficionados accept the fact that the easiest time to catch a whitetail buck is throughout the rut. As many deer hunting aficionados know the rut starts with the males scraping the ground in close proximity to a branch of a tree all over their bit of forest or grassland. It is basically a scratch in the ground that should be seen by the rest of the males in the particular part of the woods or plains. For almost all deer hunting aficionados, the reason this happens is in order to decide which male is the dominant male in that area. As the first male scents the ground (using his many glands for this purpose), the rest of the males will start to appear and begin the process of enlarging the scrape and adding their scent to the spot. For deer hunting aficionados, the primary factor why the rut is the best time for hunting is that is causes the males to be distracted. They are concerned primarily on finding a doe and fighting with other bucks, giving the deer hunting aficionado a significantly bigger likelihood of bringing home a buck than at the other times of the season.

The video below is pretty unbelievable. It reminds me of the video where Randy Johnson threw a fast ball down the pipe and a random bird flew right into its path before the ball ever made it to the catcher’s glove. Somewhat sad with all the feathers flying post pitch but at the same time you have to watch it again because it is such a fluke. That’s what the video below is like. I’m sure the race car driver had no intentions of also making a deer hunting stop mid race but that is exactly what happened. He used the most unconventional outdoor supplies to bag a buck in the history of deer hunting, a really fast Formula 1 looking car.

The deer almost made it across the road safe, just a split second sooner and he would have been prancing around in greener pastures. I’m sure someone who saw this happen went back and got a free supply of venison for a month. There is no sense in wasting perfectly good deer meat and hide. Perfect example of why it is always smart to look before crossing the street.

There I was without any chairs to sit on once we got our tent all set up and ready to go. The campfire was roaring, and I found a rather large rock and dragged it over nearby. However, for future camping trips, I plan on shopping online to find some more outdoor supplies for lounging so that I can rest my bottom on something a bit softer and relaxing. I was looking around online today for outdoor supplies that will allow me to just kick back, when I found this cool outdoor supplies Coleman Chair Cot Converter. This really cool cot serves multiple purposes. It functions as a nice reclining chair, or you can lean it back all of the way, and suddenly you have a very comfy cot to sleep on in your tent. Instead of using the hard soil floor and my sleeping bag in the future, you can bet that I will add some more luxurious camping supplies like this cot to my gear before my next trip!

Let's Play the Outdoor Sport Of Frisbee!

Frisbee is an outdoor sport that can be played almost anywhere. We always bring a frisbee among all our outdoor sport equipment when we head out of town. While camping we play baseball, golf, soccer, catch, football, volleyball and frisbee. When hanging out at the beach every summer you can bet a frisbee will be in play! My family is an active bunch and they like to be doing something all the time. It seems the only thing that breaks up the play is a meal! And after all that running around I need to make sure it is a hearty one!

When my family plays the outdoor sport of frisbee it becomes more than just a game. They break up into teams. It can turn into frisbee baseball or golf. I have to say they are quite creative. Everyone is included in this outdoor sport. I am saying from our youngest child who is five years old to my 87 year old father. It is a serious yet friendly game.

My family can entertain themselves with any kind of outdoor sport. The frisbee is an especially fun choice that is played more often than not. As long as they keep moving I am good with it!

Packing Up Our Camping Gear

http://www.outdoorcampingandhunting.com/2009/October/Packing-Up-Our-Camping-Gear.htm

I recently had to pack up our camping gear for the season. As I was going through things, I started taking inventory of what we had and what outdoor supplies we needed to replace.
We have a great tent, large enough to sleep ten. It even has closets! My husband and I love our tent, but we've had little time for camping these past few years. It has been stored in our closet and is still in excellent condition. It joined my inventory list.
We've purchased our fair share of camp chairs over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, these were left outdoors for too long and have rotted through or molded. These will have to be replaced before the next camping season.
We favor cast iron camping cookware. One of our favorite pieces is our two-sided griddle. One side is flat for cooking things like pancakes and eggs. The other side is ridged for cooking hot dogs, steaks, and bacon. We get a ton of use out of it! It joined the list of inventory, and my parents are borrowing it!
I'll be doing some online shopping to replace some of the camping gear that we lost this year. I'm looking for a great bargain!

Fond Memories of Deer Hunting At Grandma's House

My earliest memories of deer hunting season are from my grandparent's house. On opening day, my grandmother would get up before the crack of dawn and put on a fresh pot of coffee and a huge pot of homemade cinnamon raisin oatmeal. I would wake up to these wonderful smells and the beginning of movement downstairs. It wouldn't be much longer before the cousins would all start arriving for their coffee and oatmeal before setting out on their big hunt up on Grandpa's hill. Cousin Ricky would always bring a 6-pack of Pepsi with him for us kids. My sister would crawl up onto his lap and sit there until he left the house. We have a lot of fond memories of those mornings.

Our current deer hunting tradition is similar. My husband has picked up Grandpa's Hill as his favorite opening day hunting ground. He will take the week off of work and spend it in the woods, enjoying his favorite outdoor sport at my grandparents' house. The only time that we see him is when he comes in for Thanksgiving dinner! I'm so glad that he has picked up the deer hunting tradition where the now older cousins left off. (Although, one or two of them still come out to hunt with him!)

A handy tool for deer hunting.

http://www.outdoorcampingandhunting.com/2009/October/A-handy-tool-for-deer-hunting.htm

The deer hunting sportsmen and sportswomen I have met over many years of deer hunting all have one thing in common---we are all suckers for the newest, latest deer hunting gear offered each season by the outdoor sport companies who specialize in deer hunting scents for concealing the human scent to scents for attracting the biggest buck within miles, camo clothing, archery bows, arrows, broadheads, tree stands, rifle scopes and much more. And we end up buying a lot of the new gear because of the "possibility" it will actually bring in that trophy Whitetail buck. It has been my experience it is how you hunt more than looking like you just stepped out of a hunting magazine that produces more consistence results. Now, having said all that, there are certain deer hunting tools that will increase your chances of harvesting a trophy whitetail buck. One of these is a good pruning tool. I learned this lesson the hard way by just assuming any deer that would cross in front of my tree stand would stop in one of the clearings offering me a clean shot with my bow. Murphy's Law comes into play here. if there is any branch or twig that is going to get in the way this is exactly where the deer will stop. never fails. So I now carry a Deer hunting tool to clear away these branch's so I have several clear shooting lanes from the tree stand. These shooting lanes I clear with a great deer hunting tree branch pruner I found online at Broad Array Mall located online at www.broadarraymall.com. The pruner is made by Gerber and is called the Gerber Hunter's Pruning/Cleaning Tool. It is a one half inch bypass pruner and comes with a black ballistic sheath a deer hunting sportsman can wear securely attached to their belt or on a back pack loop. This way the deer hunting tool is easily accessible for clearing away the many branch's the diligent deer hunting hunter will want to remove so when that big buck strolls into range you will not have a branch blocking you shot, like has happened to me in the past. Another use for this pruner is when you have deer hunting success and that trophy Whitetail is ready to be field dressed. The pruner will aid you in quickly and efficiently field dressing the deer so you can remove the deer from the woods quickly.

Have you ever hit the woods on the opening of deer hunting season only to find your gun or bow are so far out of being sighted in you could not hit the broad side of a barn? There is no need to suffer through a deer hunting situation like this if you begin now and spend a few hours at the local shooting range making certain your rifle is properly sighted in at the ranges you typically shoot at while deer hunting. Same goes for your archery equipment. Start now to get back into the feel of shooting your bow with confidence so when the opportunity arrives to take a shot at while deer hunting you will feel confident you can make the shot. Have your rifle and bow checked out before opening morning of deer season and if you need any replacement items like a new bow string, arrows, broadheads, or ammunition, go online and get exactly what you need. Everything a deer hunting hunter needs is available online at discounted prices and shipping will only take a couple of days.
