Last deer hunting season my deer hunting partner called me late one evening to tell me about his success that evening. After listening to his tale I ask him if he had been drinking, which I already knew the answer to because he does not drink. It seems he had decided to spend the late afternoon and evening deer hunting his uncles clover field. He and I have spent many an evening watching and scoping deer in this field and we know the trails they use and what time of day the normally show up so his chances of harvesting a nice deer were high. Apparently he was luckier than he planned when a large doe walked up into the field on a narrow brushy path. She stop as she emerged from the brush presenting Mike with a perfect shot at less than thirty yard's. He was deer hunting with a new rifle and as he took his shot the deer dropped out of sight behind a small hump of ground. He thought he had missed so he just sat there for a few minutes before going to see if his aim was true. It was, even more than he could have imagined as when he looked over the hump of ground there lay the doe and a few yard's away lay a button buck. Just to make sure he was not trying to pull one on me I drove down to his home and sure enough he had both dear hanging up. He never even knew the buck was right behind the big doe.
