deer hunting I have never bagged and tagged a real life buck but I have come home with some great deer hunting game thanks to the help of video games. Probably not quite as exciting as the real thing but let me tell you, deer hunting video games make it open season 365. I would like to try deer hunting for real though. Taking a virtual hunter to the top of a hill, scoping from a boulder and bagging a trophy elk in five minutes doesn’t come with the same smell of the great outdoors, sound of a real rifle blasting off or a month’s worth of meat like actual deer hunting.

My uncle is a fan of deer hunting and always has a new story to tell about his latest exploits. Most of them have to do with amazing shots he pulled off just before the day’s game got away. Tall tales, maybe but he is a great storyteller. I’ll give you an example, he was out deer hunting on a trip in Wyoming. After sitting in a twenty foot high hide for four hours the only thing passing by was small fawns. He loves deer hunting but thinks killing a mom deer or young fawn to be reprehensible. The sun was setting when a trophy buck weighing 500 pounds poked his head through the tree line. He was at a distance where the scope had to be adjusted. My uncle said there was no time for that so he went off instinct, aimed the rifle, squeezed the trigger and hit his mark from 600 yards away. He said in all his years deer hunting he had never witnessed such a shot. Now I call him dead eye with a sarcastic smile.
