Deer Hunting from the Perspective of a Montanian |

I recently met up with a buddy I used to go to high school while visiting back home in the Pacific Northwest. We went out to get a burger to catch up. He told me he had been living in Montana now in a little town outside where one of the state universities is. He couldn’t say enough good things about Montana. Being an outdoor enthusiast, I was all ears. He has had a crossbow since high school so I asked him if he does a lot of hunting out there. He said, deer hunting is about to come back into season, there is nothing like it. The whole experience is something you have to try, is what he told me.
I don’t know about deer hunting with a crossbow but I could see myself trying with a rifle. I guess there is a local butcher near where he lives that will cut caught deer meat in to just about anything you want like hamburger, sausage, links and jerky. He is a guy who likes to live by seat of his pants so he said a single deer hunting catch can yield 100 pounds of meat, which equates to a winter’s worth of food. Seems like it would get old but he was all smiles telling me about it. Deer hunting keeps him full through the snowy months.
