I came up with a really lightweight piece of camping cookware years ago out of necessity. A few of my friends kept after me to join them on a bicycle camping trip. At that time mountain bikes were just beginning to hit the market so we all had ten speed road bikes. This outdoor sport of loading up a ten speed bike with panniers and racks to carry all our camping gear became a great way to enjoy riding the back roads and meeting other people. Top of our list when planning a trip was carling only lightweight camping gear and this is where I thought up my idea of using a aluminum can as a lightweight camp stove. After some trial tests I had a piece of very lightweight camping cookware that worked very well for heating and cooking. I just cut the can in two pieces, used either alcohol or a wax burn bar for the heat and aluminum foil as a wind deflector. Only weighs a few ounces and works great plus it is cheap and takes up very little room.
