A deer hunting adventure. |

Due to my many years spent in the woods deer hunting I have witnessed wild life in it's pure, natural state. this has blessed me with seeing many things I would never have seen except on Tv sporting and outdoor life shows. One memorable scene occurred while I was deer hunting, my favorite outdoor sport. It was mid afternoon on a very beautiful day with moderate temperatures and intermittent blue sky with clouds. I had been deer hunting using the still hunting or stalking method. I came across a deer hunting path leading up from a large field into the forest so i decided to rest for awhile beside a large fallen tree. As I sat there I noticed a chipmonk running across the forest floor. Back and forth he went gathering small acorns and seeds for his winter stash. Little did I know I was not the only one watching this activity. while observing the small animal I heard a rushing sound of air and out of the corner of my eye a hawk swooped in so fast I was caught off guard. the bird of prey went for the chipmonk but missed. I was stunned. I just sat there and replayed this scene in my mind over and over because it is something you rarely see in real life.
