Many people use cast iron pots and pans as camping cookware. It is sturdy, durable, and works well on open fire or camping stove. Also, it is more affordable than other camping cookware that is made specifically for camping. I have never been camping in my life, yet, but plan to go with my family maybe next summer. We were going to go this year but couldn't work it out. It seems like it would be fun, as long as I have a few amenities. I need an air mattress because I can't sleep on the ground in a sleeping bag, due to a back problem. I want a cookstove so I don't have to cook on open fires. Other than that I can rough it and enjoy nature without any more amenities. I will bring my cast iron pots and pans as camping cookware because it will be great to have a nice set to be able to cook meals while we are out there. My kids will love camping and I'll have fun with them too.
