The popularity of shooting compound bows has increased the number of deer hunting individuals who hunt deer. Many of these bow shooters only do so for a fun outdoor sport and competitions but the vast majority use a compound bow for deer hunting. I have been deer hunting with a bow for many years and have been fortunate to harvest a couple trophy Whitetail bucks I have mounted. Unlike deer hunting with a rifle hunting deer with a bow is up close and very exciting. Most bow hunters will not take a shot at a deer more than twenty five yard's away and when you are this close to a deer who has the natural ability to detect you through smell, sound, and to a lessor extent sight at ranges of several hundred yard's things get interesting real fast. I have lost track of the number of times I have been "busted" by a smart buck who caught just a whiff of scent he knew did not belong in his "backyard" and left the area in the blink of an eye. This what makes bow hunting deer so much fun and a great challenge.
