Deer Hunting
My family goes deer hunting every year. It adds to our food stock, and to be honest I think they just like getting out into the woods and hunting. It is a way of providing for the family that does not involve sitting behind a desk all day.
Deer hunting is a family tradition that every generation is interested in. My father does it, as did my Grandfather and Great Grandfather. My sons are looking forward to their first deer hunting trip. To them it is when they become men. My oldest boy will be going this year. My youngest gets to go in two years. My father and husband like to go together over the weekend. They usually come back with a deer or two. If they only get one they go every weekend until they get their license quota. My mom butchers and packages the meat, with a little help from me. Into the freezer it goes. I enjoy eating deer. It is kind of hard not to. It has been part of our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for as long as I can remember.
